Mixed Matches and I were (and still are) big fans of the pioneering shoegaze band My Bloody Valentine, especially their 1991 release Loveless. In this video for his song "Comatose (All My Life)", we wanted to pay tribute to a band whose image and sound has significantly influenced our respective artforms. I took inspiration from many videos directed by Scottish photographer and artist Angus Cameron, such as My Bloody Valentine's videos for songs "Soon" and "To Here Knows When". The sort of ethereal, dreamlike aesthetic that My Bloody Valentine personifies served as a great influence for both Mixed Matches' song and the video that I produced for it. In order to create a feeling of authenticity, I experimented with analog aesthetics through software plugins like AEScripts' Signal, as well as hardware; I bought an older CRT television to playback my video and re-record in order to render the "old TV" look that permeated My Bloody Valentine's aesthetic in the 1990s.

The video was entirely produced by me (with the help of a production assistant for carrying equipment).
